Combination

For this project I used the Combination strategy by picking a vinyl record as my object and merging it with a classic photo of Eddie Van Halen performing. I chose the record because it felt like a fun way to represent music itself and tie it back to the rock and roll theme. I played around with replacing his face with the record to show how closely his identity is connected to his music. I experimented with the size and placement of the record until it felt like it belonged in the picture. For the final version I wanted it to look like an old DVD cover, so I added texture, text, and a worn effect to give it that vintage feel. This combination of the record with the photo creates a playful and cohesive piece that feels like it could be a real throwback album cover.
